Languages of Rathillien
Because the languages of Rathillien intrest me way more than they probably warrant.
Let's start, as the series does, in Tai-tastigon. In Tai-tastigon, the main language is Easternese. From the name Eastenese, we can assume it's pretty widely spoken in the Eastern Lands. However, it's not the only language of the Eastern Lands: There's mention of Skyrr-mir, presumably the language of Skyrr. The word thulig presumably comes from some language of Metalondar. The name Res aB'tyrr is left untranslated, implying it's in another language. Perhaps one spoken in Endiscar, where Tubain is from? (Also, Cleppetty has family in Emmis, and the phrasing "back in Emmis" implies she's from there too. Emmis and Endiscar are relatively close to each other, both on…
Bane's mother
What is the deal with Bane's mother? I think she's one of the biggest mysteries currently standing—and a particularly intriguing one at that.
She's only mentioned 4 times throughout the series. The first time is when Bane tells Jame his backstory in , He was probably Ganth's cousin or something. Bane could've gotten his Knorth eyes and Shanir traits from Ishtier.
I don't think this is likely—I think that would thematically undercut a lot of Bane's parts of the story. I think Bane probably is Ganth's son. But I thought the possibility he's not was still worth pointing out.

In Tai-tastigon, Bane's mother married Abbotir—Lord of the Gold Court of the Thieves' Guild. With all the question…
House Crests
I'd like to do some fan-art drawing all the different house crests. First though, I need to figure out what they look like. We know what design they all bear, but we don't know the colors for most of them.

We know all the details about the old emblem: It was a black horse on a red field.
The flames might be pure scarlet, or they might have other colors, like golds, oranges, and yellows, mixed in as well.
We have no way of knowing what color the field is.
The Jaran emblem is a stricken tree. We aren't told anything about the colors used, but because it's a tree, proably natural color: Brown as it's wood, or gray as it's stricken.
We have no way of knowing what colo…
Series name
I don't really think these books have a formalized series name, at least as far as I'm aware. I've seen many names used. So now I'm just wondering—what do you call them?
Does anybody use this blog?
There are several fan discussion forums for Pat's books:
- one is the the Yahoo list (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/kencyr/), which is relatively active
- there is a livejournal page (http://community.livejournal.com/rathillien/), which seems pretty dormant
Of course, this one doesn't seem to be used, though I find the wiki pages themselves useful.
