"Chapter 8: Interlude with Jewel-Jaws"

The Grindarks are tribesmen of central Rathillien. Their stronghold is Wyrden.

They were the workforce of the Builders, and constructed the Kencyr temples on Rathillien under their direction.

Grindark tradition holds that the root of one's manhood lies in his braids.[2]

  2. Dark of the Moon, "Chapter 5: Under Green Leaves" — "The hill-man was cowering at Bortis's feet, one of his fore-braids, roughly severed, dangling from the brigand chief's hand. […] 'The Grindarks believe that the roots of their manhood lie in those braids. That hillman will lead Bortis anywhere rather than lose both of them,' "
