A Haunt is a corpse reanimated due to the influence of Perimal Darkling. Essentially, they are zombies, and they display many of the typical zombie traits that horror fans should be quite familiar with.
A haunt bite, if left untreated, can result in the bitten person becoming a haunt themselves.
