Why should I take offense at the truth? Academia has made squabbling a fine art. You, my dear friends, are mere novices by comparison.
Jurien, To Ride a Rathorn,
"Chapter XXII: Casting the Stones", VI

Ran Jurien is a Highborn randon who is the Jaran representative on the Randon Council. He's also on the scrollmen's council, and might someday become the director of Mount Alban.[2]

He appears at the end of To Ride a Rathorn, with the rest of the randon council, during the casting of the stones.

  1. To Ride a Rathorn, "Chapter XXII: Casting the Stones", IV — "They both glanced at the senior Ardeth who stood aside, sipping amber wine from a crystal glass. He and the Jaran were the only pure Highborn currently on the Randon Council, although otherwise they were as different from each other as fine leather and rough silk."
  2. To Ride a Rathorn, "Chapter XXII: Casting the Stones", VI — "The Jaran Highborn shrugged. He sat on that council as well and might one day, when he retired as a randon, become its director."
