Lanielle is kidnapped, in a raid that Jame, Timmon, and their ten-command interrupt. Brier believes the raid was by the Gemmans. Lanielle turns to dust, as does everything else from Langadine. She is the last Langadine seeker of childbearing age, and when she dies, leaving behind only Laurintine, who is very old, it's the end of their line.
- ↑ The Sea of Time, "Chapter IX: Into the Wastes", IV — " 'Our kinswoman, whom you tried to save, was Laurintine’s great-granddaughter, Lanielle.' 'I’m sorry that my rescue failed. She tried to send you a message, but died first. My condolences.' "
- ↑ The Sea of Time, "Chapter IV: Red Dust", I — " 'she was obviously the reason for the raid. […] Brier reckons they’re from Gemma, a rival Rim city with no seekers of its own.' "
- ↑ The Sea of Time, "Chapter IV: Red Dust", I — "The girl huddled on the ground, cradling her wrist. […] the wound was driveling red dust. The skin around it fell away as the flesh beneath turned to powder. […] She was crumbling in Jame’s arms, her enormous hazel eyes wide and terrified above a rotting veil. 'Tell…' she whispered, and even her voice was a thinning thread, warped by an unfamiliar accent. 'Tell my sisters…' Her eyes glazed over and sank. The flesh on her face collapsed."
