Niggen, Marplet's ungainly son, was leaning out of the third story window, where the tackle rope had been secured, snickering.
Jame's narration, God Stalk,
"Chapter 2: The House of Luck-Bringers"

Niggen is the son of Marplet sen Tenko, proprietor of the Skyrrman. Marplet hates him.[1]

He once tried to rape Kithra when she worked at the the Skyrrman, and Jame knocked many of his teeth out in a berserker fit.[2]

After the Skyrrman is burned down, Jame sees him one night, crying in the ruins of the inn. He runs away when he sees Jame, and the city swallows him.[3]

  1. God Stalk, Book II: Crown of Nights, "Chapter 5: Winter Days" — "his shame at having to call that lump of flesh Niggen his son. She could almost feel the sense of anger and betrayal that gripped him each time he saw that ungainly boy in his perfect house."
  2. God Stalk, Book I: Tatters of Dusk, "Chapter 3: Into the Labyrinth"
  3. God Stalk, Book III: Shroud of Days, "Chapter 13: Three Pyres" — "crossed the square to the fire-gutted Skyrrman […] huddled on the doorstep. Moonlight shone on Niggen's tear-swollen face as he jerked it up. Misery gave way to terror. He scrambled to his feet, lashing out wildly at the hand that she held out to him. Only after he had lurched past her into the night, fleeing as if for his life, did she realize that he had thought she was about to strike him. […] The city had swallowed Marplet's cat as it had his son."
