- This article is about Kirien's great-great-grandfather. For the Jaran title Jedrak, see Jedrak.
Jedrak, Lord Jaran of Valantir, was the previous head of the Jaran. He died in his camp bed with the Kencyr Host on their journey towards the Battle of the Cataracts, at 160 years old, soon after senility caught up with him.
Jedrak made his great-great-granddaughter Kirien his de-facto lordan, although he was not able not get her confirmed before he died. It was his deathbed wish. Kedan, Kirien, and eventually Torisen defended Jedrak's decision after his death, and eventually got Kirien confirmed.

- ↑ 2.0 2.1 Dark of the Moon, "Chapter 6: The High Council" — "At one hundred and sixty, Jaran had been overripe for years, but he had picked an awkward time to go off altogether, as he must well know. If he couldn't hold himself together through tomorrow to support the Highlord, his great-great-grandson would take over, and the boy was half a Randir."
- ↑ Dark of the Moon, "Chapter 10: The Lurking Past" — " 'Jedrak was going to tell you tonight. He wanted your promise before he died that you would support my claim. That was his second request.' "
