Quezal is master architect Rugen's gargoyle. Sent to fetch help after Rugen got lost in the Maze, Penari thought it was sent to steal the Maze's plans, and captured the gargoyle in an ivory box. The box was, many years later, broken in an earthquake, and Quezal escaped.[1]
