A Shwupp is a a subterranean scavenger that traps its prey in muddy pits.^[1]

At one point Tori and Rowan stumble into a boggy pit infested by the shwupp, and nearly die before being able to escape, with Yce's help. Generally covered by the mud, a shwupp had a slick head, eyeless and seemingly all teeth ... and webbed claws.^[2]

Later, some of the Randir assassins sent after Tori stumbled into a shwupp pit, largely disrupting the attack.^[3]
