Even if I were three million strong, I wouldn't care to tackle the Witch-King in his own mountains—or anywhere else, for that matter.
Adric, Dark of the Moon,
"Chapter 14: Gathering Forces"

The Witch-King is the ruler of Nekrien. He is said to have ruled the winds for over a thousand years.[1] In The Sea of Time, he is spoken of like a god king, similar to Kothifir's.[2] He seems to be related to the Tishooo, and the Falling Man.[3]

  1. Seeker's Mask, "Part II: Gothregor", V — "the spot where the artisan had depicted a storm of black wings over the mountains of Nekrien. How appropriate: the Witch King of that southern land was said to have ruled the winds for more than a thousand years."
  2. The Sea of Time, "Chapter XVIII: 'Please' ", II — " 'Do the Karnids love their precious prophet or only fear him? What about the Witch King of Nekrien? No matter. Their followers believe in them, and belief is power.' "
  3. To Ride a Rathorn, "Chapter XIV: To Ride a Rathorn", I — " 'I already did my part in blowing away the weirdingstrom. Leave me alone. I have a kingdom to rule.' "
